BBMC Family is based at the home of Reggae, the BBMC formerly known as the Brent Black Music Co-operative which was founded in 1985. The BBMC was set up as a base for the UK’s Reggae musicians with the vision of becoming the UK’s Motown. Throughout the years, this establishment has been graced with the presence of 98% of the legendary Reggae icons apart from Bob Marley & Peter Tosh. Legends like Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, John Holt, Gregory Isaacs, Rita Marley, Ken Boothe, Freddie McGregor, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Toots and the Maytals, Frankie Paul, Super Cat, Ninjaman, Half Pint, Sugar Minott, Mighty Diamonds and many, many more have been inside the BBMC for either the rehearsal or recording facilities.
BBMC Family Radio is also the home of Reggae Star Factor (RSF), the UK’s number 1 Reggae competition that is working in partnership with Song for Jamaica. Led by RSF’s CEO, Diana Black (the world’s foremost female bassist). Through their connections, the BBMC is also home to the UK’s top Reggae artists over the years such as Aswad, Maxi Priest, King Sounds, Janet Kay, Carol Thompson, Victor Romero Evans, Peter Hunnigale, Paul Dawkins, UB40, Tippa Ire, Vivian Jones, Michael Gordon, Ruff Cutt Band, Don Campbell, Sandra Cross, Sylvia Tella, Winston Francis, Chosen Few, Nerious Joseph and many, many more.
